Meet the Founders

Monica Kataria

Monica Kataria is a Chartered Accountant with over 16 years of diverse professional experience across statutory audits, indirect taxation, and business process reviews. Her career spans reputed firms such as BDO Haribhakti & Co., where she honed her skills in audit and compliance, and Laxminiwas & Co., where she served as the Indirect Tax Partner prior to co-founding S M Kataria & Co.

A graduate of Mount Carmel College, Bengaluru, Monica combines technical depth with practical insight. She has led and executed assignments across a wide range of sectors including construction, manufacturing, hospitality, advertising, capital markets, textiles, and technology.

Known for her clarity of thought, structured execution, and strong communication skills, Monica brings a client-focused lens to every engagement. She excels in simplifying complex financial concepts, enabling clients to make informed decisions grounded in compliance and good governance.

At the firm, she leads the Taxation practice with a particular focus on GST and regulatory matters. Her commitment to continuous learning and adapting to a dynamic business environment reflects her dedication to delivering relevant and high-quality professional services.

Shrenik Kataria is a Chartered Accountant with over 17 years of experience in professional services, with a special focus on internal audits, internal financial controls, risk advisory, process improvement, and legacy planning. As co-founder of S M Kataria & Co., he brings a structured and insightful approach to helping organisations strengthen financial governance, streamline operations, and navigate complex regulatory and succession-related challenges.

Shrenik began his career in the capital markets before moving into audit and advisory services with BDO Haribhakti (now BDO India) in 2008. Following his qualification as a Chartered Accountant in 2012, he established S M Kataria & Co., which later merged with Laxminiwas & Co. in 2016. In 2018, he played a pivotal role in supporting the KNAV Group in establishing its Risk Advisory practice in South India.

His areas of expertise include internal audits, corporate investigations, SOP and policy framework design, IFC testing, business process assessments, and intergenerational wealth structuring. He has advised clients across diverse industries such as hospitality, real estate, retail, e-commerce, software, media, insurance, healthcare, and the not-for-profit sector.

Known for his clarity, practical problem-solving, and ethical integrity, Shrenik works closely with clients to provide actionable insights that foster long-term resilience and responsible growth.
